To start with it doesn't have to be RSAI but it is a name that sounds good and reflects our activity at a national level.
It stands for Radio Sailing Association of Ireland.
What we have today:
1. 4 RC sailing classes with no connection to each other each trying to get more people interested in joining them on the water.
2. 4 RC Sailing classes, each small in numbers
3. none have the minimum required insurance to organise events be friendly or official
4. none are affiliated to the ISA
5. due to their size there is no economies of scale which results in high operational cost if made official between insurance and affiliation
What we are aiming to do:
1. promotion of the RC sailing activity in Ireland to grow the number of people sailing RC boats irrespective of the class or geographic location
2. group each class under one body which is affiliated to the ISA
3. The RSAI would be the body insured and each class affiliated should have their paid up members insured also - this insurance would cover both events and members to take part in competition in Ireland and abroad
4. the RSAI would work with the ISA for the promotion of the sport
5. having each RC class affiliated to the ISA via the RSAI and so comply to new rules enabling them to send members to international event representing Ireland based on spaces allocated and selection criteria.
6. see what else it is aimed to do ... based on your posts and thread on this board.
What the RSAI is not aiming to do:
1. interfering in the class specific initiative or changes which are managed by the international class Association of each class. it would be the responsibility of each class association to affiliate themselves to their ICA and have their boats complying to their class rules.
